Thankful For Our Home

Happy Thanksgiving!

We, at Lakeside Home Solutions, hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend with your family and friends.

It is said that, “Home is where the heart is.” From birth to young adulthood, my life was spent on a dairy farm in a rural community known as Carluke, Ontario. It was a “blink and you’ll miss it” small town, that basically housed a general store, a one room schoolhouse, and our church. It was bookended by two cemeteries. But stretching out from there were concessions of beautiful rolling farms with gorgeous, grand farmhouses. Most were inhabited by descendants of Scottish settlers.

As a child, I was privileged to spend time in a lot of these homes. The Woman’s Missionary Society, of which my Mom was a member, would meet in a different lady’s home every month. Even at a young age I marveled at the amazing woodwork, much of it hand-huned, in many of these homes. I saw beautiful paint colours and gorgeous decorations. I dreamed of having a home like these someday.

On Sundays, the faithful of the community would gather for service. It seemed like the whole community thrived on our interaction with each other. The social time outside on the front steps lasted almost as long as the service. It seemed our lives revolved around each other. We thrived on all things social in Carluke. It was salvation by community and we were all there for each other in the good but, more importantly, in the bad. Tragedies were rare thankfully but, when hard times hit such as a death, a barn fire, any great loss, there was an army of community for support.

Fast forward thirty years and I still reminisce and marvel at that community and the loving heart of its people. Their values became mine and my children are reaping the benefits of this lifestyle and we are doing our best to share them with our neighbours.

Lakeside Home Solutions has been built with a heart for serving our community and its homes and families. Often, meeting our customers for the first time, they are surprised to see us work as a family. Every project is an enjoyable experience for us and our goal is to make it enjoyable for our customers as well. We love having the opportunity to make every house a home and making it a special place for the families who live there.

This Thanksgiving we hope you get to spend time with the ones you love, feasting not only on great food but time spent with each other. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
